UCAS Tariff Points

We recognise the UCAS Tariff point system. Conditional offers may be expressed as either grades or UCAS Tariff points.

Sometimes it is helpful to use the UCAS Tariff so that recognition can be given for taking an Extended Project Qualification or a (fourth) AS level.

The Tariff can also be useful for expressing some flexibility in the grades required (e.g. CCC and BCD attract the same points).

Personal statements

What do I do if I'm applying directly to the University?

For most courses, applicants are required to write a personal statement and submit this with their application. Your personal statement should show the admissions tutor your enthusiasm and interest in the subject and contain:

  • information about yourself
  • why you want to study the chosen subject(s)
  • details of any related experience.

Remember that the Admissions Tutor will have to read many personal statements therefore you should try to make your statement interesting and descriptive. For more tips and advice, you can read our personal statement guide.
